Paul Rigot sidelined for six weeks; Saint-Quentin calls on Aurèle Brena-Chemille
The 31-year-old forward is experiencing Achilles tendon pain and will be out for six weeks for rest and treatment. The 22-year-old guard, formerly of Poitiers, will fill in until Rigot's return.
Rigot's injury comes after a mixed start to the season. The 2.01m forward scored 6 points in 22 minutes in the opening win against JL Bourg (106-103 OT) and followed with 9 points and 7 rebounds in 17 minutes in the loss at Limoges (92-75). He played limited minutes in subsequent games against Le Mans (7 minutes, 87-98 loss) and Pau (3 minutes, 102-89 loss), without scoring.
Saint-Quentin has lost three consecutive games following their defeat at Pau, holding a 1-3 record. Coach Raphaël Pascual's team hosts Dijon on Friday at 8 PM at Salle Pierre-Ratte for the 5th round of Betclic Élite.
Brena-Chemille's profile is familiar to Saint-Quentin. In May, the Picardy club, then 15th in Betclic Élite, competed in the Élite 2 promotion playoffs to secure their spot. Their quarter-final opponent was Poitiers. PB86 won that series and advanced past Nantes in the semi-finals (winning the deciding game 85-75, with Brena-Chemille scoring 14 points), before losing in the final to Pau. Despite sporting relegation, Saint-Quentin was reinstated into Betclic Élite after AS Monaco declined their commitment.
Brena-Chemille, 1.92m, made his professional debut with Nancy, experiencing Betclic Élite in 2022-2023 before a cruciate ligament tear. He then developed his career in Élite 2, spending one season with Angers and two with Poitiers. In the 2025-2026 season, he averaged 10.4 points and 2.9 assists over 23 minutes per game in 45 matches, including playoffs.
The guard was expected to play in the United States this fall. His enrollment at San Jose State for NCAA was unsuccessful. He now returns to the French top division, where he had only played around twenty minutes total during his time at Nancy.
