Pau Welcomes Back Former Cholet Player Justin Briggs

Pau continues its roster building for its return to the French elite basketball league. Following the recent announcement of three American players, the club has now signed another non-European player: Justin Briggs.

The American-Japanese forward, born in Okinawa, has spent his entire European career playing in various countries including Austria, Turkey, Israel, and Lithuania. He briefly played in the Betclic Élite during the 2024/25 season, appearing in two league games for Cholet.

After a period away from the courts, during which he participated in the Netflix reality dating show 'Sneaky Links', the forward concluded the recent season strongly with Mykonos. He particularly shone during the Greek championship playoffs, notably recording a significant double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds against Panathinaikos.

Coach Mickael Hay commented: "Justin is a true center who is coming off a very good second half of the season in Greece. He has shown he can deliver strong performances, especially against Panathinaikos in the playoffs. He is an athletic player with interesting mobility for his size. He has good hands around the basket, and defensively, his verticality and activity give him a deterrent presence in the paint. He will bring us energy, rebounding, and rim protection. His profile will also be very complementary to Ben's in our frontcourt."

Pau continue ses emplettes ! Pour son retour dans l'élite du basket français, l'EBPLO se bâtit un effectif alléchant. Après avoir annoncé la venue de trois Américains d'un coup la semaine dernière, un nouvel extra-communautaire débarque à son tour au club : Justin Briggs.

Natif d'Okinawa, l'intérieur Américano-Japonais a disputé l'intégralité de sa carrière en Europe. Passé par l'Autriche, la Turquie, Israël et la Lituanie, il a également déjà foulé les parquets de Betclic Élite un court instant (deux matches de championnat) lors d'un passage à Cholet en 2024/25.

S'il s'est ensuite un peu éloigné des parquets, participant à la télé-réalité amoureuse 'Sneaky Links', diffusée sur Netflix, l'intérieur vient de réaliser une belle fin de saison à Mykonos. C'est surtout lors des play-offs du championnat grec qu'il s'est distingué, en envoyant notamment un gros double double à 19 points et 11 rebonds face au Panathinaïkos.

'Justin est un vrai poste 5 qui sort d’une très bonne deuxième partie de saison en Grèce. Il a montré qu’il pouvait réaliser de grosses performances, notamment face au Panathinaïkos lors des playoffs. C’est un joueur athlétique, avec une mobilité intéressante pour sa taille. Il possède de bonnes mains près du cercle, défensivement, sa verticalité et son activité lui donnent une présence dissuasive dans la raquette. Il va nous apporter de l’énergie, du rebond et de la protection de cercle. Son profil sera également très complémentaire de celui de Ben dans notre secteur intérieur.'
