Following the recent struggles of Monaco in French basketball, some observers believed they had seen the worst. However, the situation at ASVEL is proving otherwise. A highly anticipated new project in Villeurbanne, featuring renowned recruits and Tony Parker at the helm of an NBA-caliber staff, is reportedly on the verge of collapse.
Sylvain Francisco, a key player desired by Tony Parker and announced with great fanfare weeks ago, is already set to depart. Even more concerning, he is rumored to be joining another EuroLeague powerhouse. Given the substantial contracts offered by the Rhone club's management, including a reported €4 million annual salary for Francisco, according to insider Alessandro Maggi, the French international might not be the only player to leave.
Joel Bolomboy and Daniel Theis, whose highly anticipated signings in the Lyon suburbs are not yet official, were expected to finalize deals worth €1.8 million and €1.5 million respectively.
